SINGULAR ACT I

Sabrina_Carpenter_-_Singular_Act_I.png

Sabrina released her third studio album on November 9, 2018. It is the first half of a two-part album and features 8 songs. On June 6, 2018, Sabrina released the first single from the album, "Almost Love," which was her most commercially successful single to date, peaking at #21 on the Pop Radio airplay charts. The album is themed around self-empowerment, and has an unstructured rhythm to it. A few weeks before the release date, Sabrina released "Paris" on October 25, 2018 and "Bad Time" on November 2, 2018 to tease the album. In November around the time of the album release date, the album's second and final single "Sue Me" was released, and charted at #31 on Pop. The album also sees Sabrina's first collaboration on an album, with Girl Meets World co-star Uhmeer (Amir Mitchell-Townes). The song "Mona Lisa" was inspired by Sabrina's love of a Santana lyric from "Smooth," which she mentions in this interview. Sabrina's favorite lyric from the album is from "Paris": "Why'd it take so long for me to know this? Scared to put the water with the roses." However, the song has received somewhat of a negative reception because fans want the song to be longer. She also embarked on the Singular tour to promote this album (and Act II) from March 2, 2019 to April 11, 2019, visiting North America and Japan. In addition, though the US album only includes eight songs, "Why" and "Alien" are included on the Japanese edition of the album. The album debuted at #103 on the Billboard Hot 200.
