I absolutely adore this time of year! The holidays always make me feel all warm and happy, between getting to spend time with family and all the various traditions. Speaking of which, one tradition I always try to do is listen to Christmas music, and Sabrina has some wonderful Christmas songs to get you in the holiday spirit!
My favorite of her Christmas songs is "Christmas the Whole Year Round."It's such a feel good song that makes you want to get up and dance. I also love the message of it: about taking the happiness that Christmas brings and making it the whole year round. The song isn't super deep about it, but I really sympathize with the message about spreading positivity 365 days a year instead of just Christmas. It's a must-add to any Christmas playlist!
Very close in its greatness is Sabrina's cover of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" with Lindsey Stirling playing the violin. Her voice is so amazing and powerful that it makes me like it equally as much, maybe more, than the original version!
In addition, Sabrina's first ever Christmas single from 2013 (when she was 14!) is also very much worth checking out. This song lyrically discusses all the things that make Sabrina love Christmas, and uses vivid imagery to describe her perfect Christmas setting. This song is so poetic that it really gets you into the Christmas spirit and is among the best of Sabrina's pre-album discography.
Another cute Brina Christmas song is "Silver Nights." The song talks about Sabrina being out on the town with her lover, with metaphors and imagery of Christmas once again decorating the entire song. This is such a cute, feel-good song and is a must add to any Christmas playlist!
The only Christmas song of Sabrina's I don't love is her cover of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." It's more the song that I don't love than Sabrina's vocals, because she does a good job. The song has always felt very melancholy to me, especially in Sabrina's version, which makes me dislike it. However, it's a decent song and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes the original version of the song.
To end this post on a positive note, there's another great 2012 song from Sabrina that it seems hardly anyone knows about - her cover of "I'll Be Home for Christmas." The cover also features Ali Brustofski and Danielle Lowe, who were two other young singers rising to popularity at the time (though neither got anywhere near as popular as Sabrina). Danielle ended up stopping posting covers a few months after this, and Ali has continued her music career and has released an album, as well as a few cover albums. The entire cover is acapella, which I feel is amazing and works even better than if there would have been music in the background. The only version of the song I can find is on YouTube, which features a very sweet outro with Sabrina wishing everyone a merry Christmas with a young Goodwin!
Happy holidays and 'tis the season for Sabrina Christmas music! :)
